The Kentucky Wildcats are on the road tonight to play the Mississippi State Bulldogs on primetime. The game will be shown on ESPN at 7:30 pm. A tough SEC road win would be awesome.
If you are headed to the game, be sure to pack your favorite Kentucky Sweatshirt because it’s going to get a little chilly in Starkville tonight.
Let’s stand strong for this Kentucky Football Team!
Attack. Every. Play. GO CATS!!
A dancing Coach Matthew Mitchell is now an integral part of Big Blue Madness. The fans of Big Blue Nation now anticipate and expect a performance better than the year prior. Here is a brief rundown of Coach Mitchell’s past dance routines.
In 2010 Coach Mitchell surprised us with the “Dougie”. BBN went crazy for it and a star was born.
Then 2011 rolls around and we are treated to a Michael Jackson “Billie Jean” rendition for the ages.
Last year in 2012 he once again took things to a new level with MC Hammer’s “Hammer Time”. Complete with a laser light show and the UK Dance Team accompanying him.
So what will the 2013 Big Blue Madness bring? We don’t know, but we sure are excited to see it! GO CATS!!
The Big Blue Madness Campout 2013 has begun! At 5:00 am this morning the ropes were dropped and the Wildcat fans ran to claim their spots around Memorial Coliseum.
According to the UK Athletics website, the number of tents has already set the all-time record. This is what they had to say:
“As of 9:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday – just four-and-a-half hours into the campout and nearly 72 hours from Saturday’s ticket distribution – approximately 650 tents had encircled Memorial Coliseum, setting an all-time record. Last year’s campout held the record previously with 595 tents, but did not top the 2011 record until Friday afternoon.”
It’s pretty clear that Big Blue Nation should never be underestimated and is a force to be reckoned with. Big Blue Madness Tent City is the first sign that Kentucky Basketball is just around the corner. Check out this video from UK Athletics covering the the campout. GO CATS!!
We may have lost the game against Florida, but we’ll always have this awesome Kentucky Fake Field Goal for a touchdown!

Kentucky Basketball fans will never forget.
It was the 1992 East Regional Final; the date was Saturday, March 28. The Kentucky Wildcats were leading the Duke Blue Devils by one point 103-102. It was overtime and there were just 2.1 seconds on the clock. Grant Hill inbound the ball the length of the court where the hated Christian Laettner caught the pass. Big Blue Nation held its collective breath as the fadeaway jump shot floated through the air as time expired.
NOOOOOOOOOOO! Children and adults across the Bluegrass State wept uncontrollably. The pain and disappointment was too great.
As much as Big Blue Nation would like to forget that awful day, we can’t. It’s always there and it’s never going away. People label it “The Greatest Basketball Game Ever Played”. UPS made a commercial about it and calls it logistics. Every March, when the madness rolls around, replays are always shown of that dreadful play.
It’s been almost 21 years since that game occurred and Kentucky’s hatred for Duke still remains strong. And tonight when Kentucky and Duke square off to play in The Champions Classic, Wildcat fans will be screaming for a victory. Even though this is only the second regular season game and not a Regional Final or Championship game, it’s still Duke. And beating Duke in any way, shape or form, in any competition, somehow feels like retribution for that shot to the heart they gave us in 1992.
Most of the current players on both teams weren’t even alive when the 1992 game between the University of Kentucky and Duke was played, but you can bet that they have had their history lesson. Each player is well aware of the past meetings between their schools and realizes that even though it is early in the season, both teams are playing for a victory against a storied program.
In the past, the Kentucky faithful have turned Atlanta into CATlanta and with a game of this magnitude, we are pretty sure the Kentucky Blue will rule the town once again.
So CATS fans, get ready for tonight’s showdown. Gather your friends and get out your Blue and White pom-poms. Make sure your lucky Kentucky shirt is clean and ready to wear, because it’s almost game time!
Let’s GO CATS! BEAT DUKE!
One last thing to get you fired up for the game. Check out the video from Kentucky Wildcats TV of the Kentucky Basketball team leaving the Bluegrass and arriving in CATlanta. GO CATS!
